The Economics of Cliff Jumping

A request to OTP faithful: I’ve been contemplating for several weeks now, some of the observations made by Mr. Mystic and others about the state of the economy, banking, etc. It got my little gray cells thinking about something in specific: are we not confusing the meanings of capitalism with consumerism? This led to another thought: if all of us, like Krugman, sometimes operate from stuff we learned in our old schoolbooks, and if times have changed since our old schoolbooks, maybe we need to get our heads around what is the REAL problem here. I originally wanted to get something on 5 pages… but the gray cells kept getting grayer… and writing about only the problem bit seemed to be disheartening, so we had to communicate what we think might be a cocktail starter conversation about quantum economics.

But anyway, since the OTP faithful have GENERALLY got their hats right way around, I would appreciate any feedback, positive or negative on the essay linked below (PDF).

Thanks…
