Flattr (what is it~?)

Flattr is a `micro payments` system for the Internet.  I think it is a smart idea~! In this video, I explain what it is -

I wonder how that will work in relation to the companies paying for ad space, or for the companies that allow things for free due to the ad space. For example, youtube makes its money solely through the ad space, doesn’t it? I’m guessing youtube wouldn’t allow flattr. I don’t know about blogspot, which hosts so many free blogs. So would that mean it would only be possible on private websites?

I do like the idea; I just wonder about where it would be/wouldn’t be allowed due to its competition with ad space.

      I think you are correct.
It will depend on whether it takes off or not.
Private bloggers first for sure, but then why not The New York Times….It should not compete with ads……And, if it gets that far, YouTube (et al) would have to decide if they would let individuals have a Flattr button, or they use the Flattr button for themselves.
All round, it really should not compete with ads. as the sentiment is different (although I am sure YouTube and others know that people click on their ads purely to give individuals a bit of a boost).
Flattr should tidy all that up.
I like the idea (that doesn’t mean it will reach critical mass though).
      Hello Linda.

        Hi, Nick, ;-).

It’ll be interesting to see what happens with it. I do like the idea. I hope it does well.

Good, can you add a flttr button to OverThePeak so you can see how much flattery the site gets.
